Celebrations were underway at Redwell Primary, Barnwell Road Wellingborough on Tuesday May 16th to mark the school obtaining the accreditation of the Values Quality Mark.  This internationally recognised award is given to schools who demonstrate that a core set of values are fundamental to the school’s everyday practice.  At Redwell there are 12 values which change monthly and include self-belief, respect and kindness.  The award from the International values education trust (IVET) was marked with a special assembly, which the whole school from reception to year 6 attended.  Neil Balliston, from the IVET who presented the award said of Redwell, “I have visited Redwell Primary School on many occasions and always sense a calm, welcoming and supportive ethos.  The school understands the importance and impact of holistic development and as a consequence, the children are confident, talk eloquently and develop meaningful relationships.”

The award is recognition of the culmination of hard work from staff and pupils, which has included classroom and whole school activities and displays, nominations for staff and pupils and special treats for demonstrating the school values.  This year has also seen the introduction of mascots to help the children recognise the behaviours and morals that are important to become successful.

As in prior years, in the summer term a values day organised by the schools value lead Mrs Moore will be held.  This day will offer the children of Redwell an opportunity to experience activities held by members of the local community such as hairdressing, cricket and cookery.  Parents of the children are invited to join their children in a lunchtime picnic at the school. Mrs Ansell, headteacher reiterated the team effort that the award represents when she said, “I am extremely proud of all the staff and pupils for the way in which they model the values in everything they do, it helps make the school a calm, purposeful and enjoyable place to learn.”
